N-1-2-40.25.1 Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) by Jon
Postel, <postel@isi.edu>
Heard any good numbers lately? The IANA assigns the numerous
parameters used in the Internet protocols (for example, ports,
enterprise, telnet options). There are many cases where it is
important to assure that a unique value is used for a parameter, the
IANA is the central coordination point for this purpose. Requests for
such assignments should be emailed to: <iana@isi.edu>.
